Obituary for Allen Orton (Oscar)

Orton, (Oscar) Allen, 93, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2016, at the Kansas Masonic Home. Visitation 1-8 p.m., Wednesday (family present 6-8), at Hatfield-Smith Funeral Home, 219 W. 2nd, Belle Plaine. Funeral service 10 a.m. Friday, at First Baptist Church of Belle Plaine, 612 N. Linden. Allen was a 50 year Mason, and a past Master of the Belle Plaine Lodge. He was also a member of the Midian Shrine, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Consistory. He was a Navy veteran of WWII, worked 36 years at Boeing, owned A & B Service and Supply, and collected antique small engines. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Betty, parents Paul and Kathrine, sister Lucy Garrett, and brother Jim Orton. He is survived by his two sons, Thomas (Kathryn) Orton of Clear Lake, Texas and Richard (Jean) Orton of Belle Plaine; four grandchildren, Daniel Orton, Sarah (Kelly) Schweikert, Darrin (Melissa) Orton, and Shannon (Seth) Talbot. He also has nine great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with Kansas Masonic Foundation, 2909 SW Maupin Ln., Topeka, KS 66614.
