Obituary for Ruth L. Overby

Ruth L. Overby, beloved mother, 81, of Dunlap, TN passed away Friday, September 23, 2016. Memorial Service is Friday, September 30, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Villa Maria Chapel, Mulvane, KS. Graveside service will be at Pine Hill Baptist Church and Cemetery, Enterprise, MS.
She was born December 14, 1934 in Big Stone Gap, VA to Sam and Emma McCoy Lipps. Ruth married her husband Norman Overby in New Orleans, LA and
settled in Slidell, LA where she resided for the next 30 years. After the passing of her husband and raising her family, Ruth moved to Dunlap, TN where she concentrated on her writing of short stories and poems, many of them being published. In 2015 she retired to Mulvane, KS bringing her closer to her family and in this short time her presence drew many people to her.
She will be truly missed by her Children, George (Janie) Overby of Purvis, MS, Mary Kaye (Wes) Anderson of Indianapolis, IN, Lisa (Bob) Pearson of Minden, NE, Leslie (Bryan) Cunningham of Haysville, KS and son, Franklin (deceased); Grandchildren, Michael Paul (Amanda) Overby, Jason (Stacy) Overby, Justin (Tabitha) Overby, John Wasson, Amanda (Orion) Patrie, Tara Cunningham, Tricia Cunningham, Angela Wasson Balderas, Shannon Pearson; Great-Grandchildren, Caleb, Gabriel, Angelina, Annalise, Brianna, Britton, Brennan, Reece, Tyler, Jonah, Cameron, JT, Bianca, Jillian, Jasper and sister Sherrill Brown of Indianapolis, IN.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with Good Shepherd Hospice, 7829 E. Rockhill, Suite 403, Wichita, KS 67206. 877-598-2277.
