Obituary for Robert Van Boening

Van Boening, Robert, age 86, of Derby, retired plumber, passed away Monday, February 6, 2017. Visitation 1-5 PM Thursday, February 9, Smith Mortuary, 1415 N Rock Rd., Derby. Recitation of the Rosary 7 PM Thursday; Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM Friday, February 10, both at St. Michael Catholic Church, 545 E. Main, Mulvane. Robert was a member of the National Atomic Veterans Association, Plumbers and Pipefitters Union # 441, the American Legion Post # 408, and the Knights of Columbus, Council # 7486. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, and his son-in-law, Roy Mansch. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Joan; sons, Curt (Dee), of Wichita, Mark, of Oxford, MS, Bruce (Francene), of Ozark, MO, and Matt (Misty), of Belle Plaine; daughters, Debra Mansch, of Belle Plaine, Lora Hon, of Wichita, Amy Miera (Randy) and Mary Martes (Doug), all of El Segundo, CA, and Dara Schoenthaler (Shawn), of Douglass; sisters, Lois Shafer, of Doniphan, NE, and Rosella Harrifeld (Marvin), of Blue Hill, NE; 29 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. A memorial has been established with St. Michael Catholic Church, 545 E. Main, Mulvane, KS 67110.
