Cindy Leigh Ward Skaggs
The brochure for the Plaza of the Heroines states that by definition, heroines are women who are admired and emulated for the achievement and qualities. In all of our lives there are women who fit these descriptions. These women can be of any age. In this case, we want to honor our daughter-in-law Cindy.
Cindy Leigh Ward was born in Kansas City, Kansas to Donna and James Ward in 1958. She graduated from Belleville High School in 1977 as Salutatorian of her class and from Pittsburg State University in Biology in 1981. Cindy attended the University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed her residency in 1988 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. She started her private oractice in 1988 and continues in Derby, Kansas.
Cindy married, our son, Jay in 1986 and has three children, Jennifer Ann, Clayton James and Samantha Marie. She has juggled being a mom, wife, doctor with success over the years, Cindy is a member of Woodlawn Methodist Church in Derby.
I am pleased that the Heroines have provided me the opportunity to honor Cindy.
