Alice Clarice Ivey-Petersen was born on December 2,1960, in Greenville, South Carolina. At the age of 7, her family moved to California, where she lived until she graduated from Hemet High School in 1978. She then traveled, here to Wichita. For 16 years she had her own business, where she loves and cared for 51 children. When she chose to retire from the daycare business, all 51 children and their parents came to celebrate her. She then attended Butler County Community College and Wichita State University. For the past 2 years she has been the office manager for General Pet Supply. She was able to use her love of dogs in her daily job duties.

Alice was never able to have children of her own, but when she married Monte on June 12, 1999, she gained a beautiful daughter and some amazing grandchildren. Monte and Alice continued to grow their family, when they opened their home to many fur babies. Bernie was their first baby. Since then they have loved many little babies including Lady, Tina, Misfit, Sugar, Jake, Rosco, Scooter and Sunshine.

Alice loved to give to others. She spent countless hours baking goodies for friends, family and even complete strangers. She loved to help with any fund raising activities by donating her tasty treats.

Alice not only opened her home to furry little pups, but her and Monte opened their hearts and home to help anyone who needed a place and some love and kindness.

Saturday evening at the Petersen house, you would find people gathered around the table, playing games and eating some delicious food. You knew that when you left the "Petersen Poverty Place" you would have a full belly and a full heart from the love and kindness that overflowed.
