Roger Wesley Marvel, age 85, of Wichita, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017. He was born in rural Edna, KS and lived most of his life in Wichita. He retired from the Boeing company after 41 years in 1992. After retiring he traveled extensively and enjoyed both domestic and international destinations with family and friends. He made sure his grandchildren experienced international travel and different cultures. As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed golfing, camping, hunting and fishing. He was an army veteran and volunteered regularly at the VA for many years after he retired. He was active in leadership and volunteering at church. Family was the most important thing to Roger, and he will be missed. Roger is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Naiola; his parents, John and Jimmie Marvel; and his son, Larry. Survivors include sons, Randy Marvel (Brenda), of Copley, OH, Ken Marvel (Mary), of Madison, WI; daughter, Cathy Harris (Brett), of Creston, IA; sisters, Gloria Hawk and Nancy Berg, both of Albuquerque, NM, Jane Metzinger (Bob), of Oklahoma City, Sue Hertweck (Bob), of Grand Prairie, TX, and Wanda Schwartz, of Overland Park; grandchildren, Ryan (Allison), Kelli (Matt Perry), Kaila, Megan, Kyle, Matt, Kelsey, Kevin and Melissa Marvel, Jeremiah, Joshua and Jacob Harris. Memorial service 10:00 am Saturday, October 14th, 2017, Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 8021 W. 21st Street North, Wichita, KS 67205. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 8021 West 21st Street North, Wichita, Kansas 67205 or Serenity Hospice, 9415 E.
