Obituary for Janice Lee Schneider

Derby-Schneider, Janice Lee
age 88, of Derby, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2017. Funeral service Monday, October 16, 2017, Faith Lutheran Church, 214 S. Derby Ave, Derby, KS. Interment will follow at El Paso Cemetery, Derby. Janice was born to Lee and Nova (Bosserman) Smith, March 8, 1929, Dayton, OH. She graduated from Roosevelt H.S., Dayton, OH in 1947 and from Miami Jacobs Business College, Dayton. She was employed at the Veteran’s Administration and Dayton Tire and Rubber as a secretary. On July 29, 1949 she was married to Reinhold Carl Schneider. She was a full time homemaker until late 1960’s, working part time as a cook in the Kettering School systems. They resided in Kettering, OH until July 1972, when Carl’s work moved them to the Wichita area. Residing in Derby, she worked as an aide on the school bus for Derby School Transportation department. Carl and Janice were married for 64 years, when Carl preceded her in death in October 2013. Janice was also proceeded in death by her parents Lee and Nova Smith. Survivors include a son, Brian(Andrea);daughters, Claudia Jill Hopkins (Richard, Jr.) and Jo Ellen Little (Gregg); grandchildren, Dustin Schneider (Lydia), Melissa Heflin (David), Derek Schneider (Candace), David Schneider (Victoria), Brian Hopkins (Julie), Brad Hopkins (Patricia), Sara Randall (Dusty) and Rachel Talley (Justin); 24 great-grandchildren. A memorial has been established with Sedgwick County Humane Society, 3313 N. Hillside, Wichita, KS 67219.
