Ruby Christine Cook (Mercer)
Ruby Christine Cook, age 86, retired Fed Ex employee, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2017. Visitation 1-8 PM Sunday, November 5, with family receiving friends 5-7 pm, Culbertson-Smith Mortuary, 115 S. Seneca. Funeral service 2 pm Monday, November 6, Glenn Park Christian Church, 2757 S. Glenn Ave. Ruby is preceded in death by her husband, Alonzo; her parents, William and Irene Mercer; and sisters, Betty Rogers, Verna House and Margaret Wallington. Survivors include her children, Glynda Karns (Jess), of Wichita, Ray Shannon (Elaine), of Delta Junction, AK, Shirley Oakes (Ron), of Emory, TX and Ringo the cat; brothers, Hansel (Georgia), Bill and Tom Mercer; sisters, Jean Pinkston and Martha James (Marion); grandchildren, Kimberly Schmitt, Kevin Karns, Christina Wells, Annette Turvey, Stephen Oakes, Heather Shannon-Shepard, Chamomile Shelley and Audrey Parker; 16 great-grandchildren. A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association, 1861 N. Rock Rd, #380. Wichita, KS 67206. Arrangements with Culbertson-Smith Mortuary.
