Janice Carter
Janice Earline Carter was born January 19, 1934 on the farm east of Valley Center to Floyd and Frances Titt Greenup and passed peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by family from this life on this date November 23, 2017. Janice was full of grace, kindness, and love. She loved teaching and sharing her artistic talents with many students over the years in the Public Schools of Derby, Wellington, Osawatomie, and Ottawa as well as many church and community events. Janice and Arlys Carter, the love of her life, were married for 59 years. Janice graduated from Valley Center High School and Friends University with a Master’s Degree in Art History.
Janice is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Frances Greenup; sister, Louise. She is survived by her husband Arlys Carter of Derby; twin daughters Becca Elaine (Jeffrey) Duerr of Andover, Debra Lorraine (Geoffrey) Goodway of Derby; Curtis Carter of Derby; grandchildren Meghann Holmes, Joshua (Courtney) Owen, Melanie (Ryan) Westmoreland, Travis Owen, Allison (Lance) Meyerhoff, Wesley Duerr, Justin Duerr, Jessica (Clark) Thiessen; great-grandchildren Landon Swain, Ethan and Logan Holmes; Carter and Casen Owen; Mason and Morgan Meyerhoff, Nolen Thiessen; sister Gail Couch-Cobb of Mulvane; brother Herbert (Bobbie) Greenup of Wichita and many nieces and nephews. Memorial is with the Prairie Homestead, American Baptist Estates 1605 W May St Wichita, KS 67213 Visitation 1-8pm, family greeting 6-8pm Thursday evening at Smith Mortuary – Derby, 1415 N Rock Road in Derby. Funeral 11AM Friday, December 1st at Pleasantview Baptist Church, 1335 N Buckner St, Derby KS 67037.
