Obituary for Clarence D. Fitzwater

Clarence D. Fitzwater, 85, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018 in Donna, TX. He was born February 21, 1932 to George and Mary (Thomas) Fitzwater in Argonia, KS. Clarence retired from the Aircraft Manufacturing Industry after working at Cessna and Boeing. He and Avola worked at El Dorado Lake for more than 25 years where they enjoyed teaching visitors how to water ski. They retired and started snow-birding in southern Texas and lived there permanently a few years ago. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Mary Armstrong; and siblings, Edna Clark, Lucy Price, and Clifford Fitzwater. Clarence is survived by his wife of 66 years; Avola; children, Marsha Fitzwater, Melodie (Alan) Bruns, Debbie Fuzzell, Eileen (Rick) Downen, and Martin Fitzwater; 20 grandchildren; and a multitude of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Visitation: Thursday, January 18, 2018, from 1 to 8 pm at Culbertson-Smith Mortuary, 115 S. Seneca St., Wichita, KS 67213. Funeral: 1 pm, Friday, January 19, 2018 at Praise Assembly of God Church, 1125 S. Rock Rd., Derby, KS 67037. Interment to follow at Old Mission Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ronald McDonald House Charities, 1110 N. Emporia, Wichita, KS 67214.
