Obituary for Diana Unkel

Diana Unkel
Derby-Unkel, Diana, age 65, passed away January 16, 2018. Diana was a lifelong resident of Derby, taught music at Swaney Elementary, the Derby 6th Grade Center, and was the pianist for the Derby High School choral program. She touched the lives of many students through music, taught private lessons, and served as the organist at Madison Avenue United Methodist Church and Woodlawn Methodist Church. She loved traveling, spending time with her grandchildren, and serving others through her music. Diana is survived by her husband of 45 years, Jonn; daughters, Melissa (Sean) Attebury, Jamie (Todd) Junker; grandchildren, Lucy, Liam, Jaxon, Rylan; sister, Debbie (Wayne) Stout; niece and nephew, Kelli and Kevan Stout; and a loving extended family. Visitation 1-8pm Friday January 19th, with family receiving friends 6-8pm at Smith Mortuary – Derby, 1415 N. Rock Rd. Funeral 1pm, Saturday January 20th, at Woodlawn United Methodist Church, 431 S. Woodlawn Blvd. Derby, KS. A memorial has been established with the Derby Community Foundation to provide a scholarship in her honor.
