My mom, Pat Bernard Groth, and Barbara were classmates at Punahou High School and graduated in 1950. In 1964 our family went to Hawaii for a vacation and we got together with Barbara, Larry, Sue and their father. Mom was so happy to see one of her high school girlfriends. They kept in touch through the years, but lost contact a couple years ago. Mom usually sent out an annual Christmas letter but hasn't for a few years now. In 2000, when it was the 50th reunion for the class of 1950 at Punahou, Barbara flew out to Hawaii and stayed at my folks. This year my siblings and I have been clearing out our folks' homes in both Florida and Wisconsin. While going through a photo album from the 50's, there was a photo of Barbara and her first husband, Larry. When mom mentioned she had not kept in touch the last couple years with Barb, I went on line. It was then that I learned of Barb's passing last April so had to break the news to mom. Mom always spoke highly of Barbara and was so glad they could enjoy their 50th class reunion together. God willing, I hope to take mom to the 70th class reunion next year! She and I attended the 65th. God's peace and comfort to her family
