Obituary for Evelyn Leck

Mortuary visitation hours are 1 pm - 8 pm, with family present from 5-7p on Wednesday, at Smith Family
Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby. KS. Funeral Services will be held
for Evelyn Darlene Leck Thursday, May 3rd, at 10 a.m. at the First
Baptist Church of Haysville with Pastor Jason Velotta, of First
Baptist Church of Mulvane, officiating. Interment will be following at
the Hillcrest Cemetery in Derby, Kansas.

Evelyn Darlene Graybill Leck was born on January 25, 1942, at her home
in Leedey, OK and died Friday, April 27, 2018, at Kansas Medical
Center in Andover, Kansas at the age of 76.

She was raised in Leedey, OK and graduated from Leedey High School in
1960. She graduated from Southwestern State University in 1965 with a
B.A in Education. During college, she spent a few summers doing
missions at Glorieta, NM.

She was employed as a telephone operator in Palo Alto CA.

She was first employed as a teacher in Belleville, KS. She met her
future husband while living there.

On June 11, 1966, she was united in marriage to Donald Paul Leck at
Leedey, OK. Don's work took them to several major cities in the US.
She was employed as a speech and special ed teacher in Smyrna, GA. Her
first daughter was born in Atlanta GA, her son was born in Dodge City,
KS, and her youngest daughter was born in Olathe, KS. They moved to
Haysville, Kansas where Darlene was employed with USD 261. She served
as the office manager of her husband's electronic shop, called Midwest
Micro Electronics, where Don worked on TV's and other electronics. In
2002, they moved to Derby, Kansas.

She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of 9. Her
family was active at First Baptist Church of Haysville and First
Baptist Church of Mulvane.

She loved her family, including spending hours playing with her
grandchildren. Her great passions were teaching, reading, and
writing. She enjoyed Bible study and caring for her home and husband.
She also liked to help others by serving in many roles at church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Leck and her parents,
James Nolan and Evelyn Graybill.

Survivors include her two daughters, Angela Griffin and husband Mark
of Park City, Alisa Carrasco and husband David of Lewisville, TX; one
son, Andrew Leck and wife Jill of Rose Hill; five brothers, Duwayne
Graybill and wife Helen of Weatherford, OK, Jerry Graybill and wife
Elaine of Alva, OK, Vic Graybill and wife Wallie of Bethany, OK, Bob
Graybill and wife Judy of Clinton, OK, Calvin Graybill and wife Verna
of Alva, OK; sister-in-law, Rosalie Bernasek (Galen), brothers-in-law,
Larry and John (Mary) and grandchildren, David, Drew, Johnny, Katie
Leck and Isaiah Carrasco.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with First Baptist
Church of Haysville and the North American Mission Board. Send to NAMB
