Obituary for Kimberly Hall

Kimberly Ann (Trout) Hall began her eternal "miracle" life on Monday, May 7, 2018. Kim was a first grade teacher at Nelson Elementary School in Haysville. She was a devoted wife and mother, sister and friend. She was a talented artist and an inspiration to those who knew her. Her favorite quote was, “Life is what you make it,” and she was determined to make every day a happy one.
Kim was born May 29, 1953, in Wichita, to John W. Trout, Jr. and Dee Trout. She attended Haysville schools, graduating as a National Honor Society student from Campus High School in 1971. She attended Fort Hays State University one year, completing her Bachelor of Arts in Education at Wichita State University in 1975 and her Master of Education in Educational Psychology in 1983. She taught school in Haysville for 38 years – 10 in special education and the remainder in the first grade.
She married the love of her life, Randy Hall, on April 17, 1976. Together they raised three children: two daughters and a son. Kim also loved art and created many beautiful drawings for family and friends. She encouraged her first grade students to “Choose Happy” and to express themselves through art. She leaves behind a legacy of love and joy.
Kim was always courageous. When she was just six years old, she survived kidney cancer, living far beyond what doctors predicted. This was miracle life number one. In March of 2017, when she was diagnosed with liver cancer, she faced it bravely, again living longer than doctors thought possible. This was miracle life number two.
Kim was preceded in death by her parents, and one infant grandson, Ethan Houser. She is survived by her husband Randy Hall, two daughters, Andi Michelle (Tim) Houser, of Haysville, and Abby Nicole Bowman of Wichita; one son Adam Daniel Trout Hall of Wichita; and four grandchildren Breckon and Berkleigh Houser, and Brickston and Banks Bowman. Also surviving are her sisters, Susan (Bruce) Armstrong, of Haysville, Jan (Vance) Brandom of Valley Center, Teresa (Randy) Scantlin of Overland Park, Ann (Nick) Warren, of Haysville; and chosen sisters Amy Yan Barton and Christine Patrick, of Wichita; brother-in-law Richard Hall (Elaine), of Arvada, CO; her beloved dog Toby, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Haysville United Methodist Church, Haysville, KS.
The family suggests donations to the Owl’s Nest Project, c/o Nelson School, 245 N. Delos, Haysville, KS 67060, which Kim initiated to provide Nelson School students with an outdoor place for reading and study, or to the American Cancer Society.
