Obituary for Bradley Wayne Talbott

Bradley Wayne Talbott
Brad passed away Saturday, August 4th at the age of 56 from a brainstem tumor after a heroic fight. "Bubba" as his friends knew him, was the youngest of four children born to John & Marjory (Collett) Talbott on August 5, 1961. He graduated from Halstead HS in 1979 as class president. He attended Hutchinson Community College and Fort Hays State University, and retired May 31, 2018 from a nearly 32-year career at the General Mail Facility of the US Post Office in Wichita. His many co-workers said he did the work of five people and his ornery personality made work fun with his many tricks and antics. He was married to Janell Gfeller Hirsh in 1994, and helped raise her two children, Lauren and Gavin. He had been divorced for 13 years. Brad was an obsessive outdoorsman, and especially loved hunting deer, turkey, other game birds, and loved to help others with projects. Brad was exceptionally close to his family and cherished his classmates and countless friends. He had many adventures in life including flying his paramotor, snow skiing, attending NASCAR races and KC Chiefs games, and enjoyed several trips to Cabo where he became a certified scuba diver. He loved photographing sunrises and sunsets and always lit up the room with his big smile and infectious laugh. To say he will be missed terribly is an understatement. Brad is preceded in death by his beloved father, John Talbott; grandparents Henry & Anna (Teten) Talbott and Henry & Ethel (Higgins) Collett; and his niece’s husband, Casey Cummings. Left to miss him are his two sons Mason & Logan of Wichita, who were the light of his life; precious mother Marge Talbott of Wichita; his brother Pat Talbott (Sue) of Overland Park, and their children Kari Talbott of Rochester, NY; Kori Truono (Brian & Teagan) of Cincinnati, OH, and Leah & Skyler Jones of Overland Park; his sisters Deanna Talbott, Wichita; Gina Talbott Marx (Terry) and their three children Bobby Cummings (step-daughter, Caitlin), Margo Stuckert (fiancé Justin Dye) and John Henry Marx of Wichita. Per Brad's wishes, his eyes were donated to the Kansas Eye Bank, and cremation has taken place. A memorial time with him will be held Friday, August 10th at Culbertson-Smith Mortuary, 115 S. Seneca, Wichita, KS from 1-8:00 pm with family present 6-8 pm. A Celebration of Brad’s Life will be held on Saturday, August 11th at 2:00 pm at Pathway Church Goddard, 18800 W. Kellogg Drive, Goddard, KS. Private inurnment at the Halstead Cemetery and at the Marion family farm, his “happy place”, at a later date. Brad would want you to dress casually, and please feel free to wear NASCAR, Chiefs, or Camo if you would like. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Halstead Historical Society, 116 E. 1st in Halstead, KS 67056. Condolences may be left at www.smithfamilymortuaries.com.
