89, passed away Monday, October 16th, 2017. She was born April 23rd, 1928 to George and Fay James in Major Co., Oklahoma. Ruth met Orwin Weishaar on a blind date, and the two later married in a double wedding ceremony with Orwin's brother Charles and bride Mary. The two had seven children together, David, Janet, Rachel, Beverly, Sandra, Steven and Curtis. The family enjoyed camping, traveling and rockhounding together. Ruth was a member of Douglass United Methodist Church for the better part of 60 years, where she and Orwin also raised their children. She was an active member of the United Methodist Womens group and the Tuesday Morning Bible Study Group. Ruth participated in Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Ministry. Ruth and Orwin later joined the Wichita Gem and Mineral Society where they met and traveled with great friends to collect specimens and/or attend rock shows in many different states. Ruth enjoyed watching and collecting hummingbirds, and extended her mother's collection of elephants. Ruth and Orwin enjoyed 56 years of marriage. She was preceded in death by her parents, George James and Fay James; sister, Rosemary Remmert; brothers, Frank James and Jesse James; husband, Orwin C. Weishaar.
Ruth is survived by her children, David Weishaar (Sharon), Janet Holderman (Grant), Rachel Walker (Clinton), Beverly Ghanbarabbasi (Kaveh), Sandra Isom (Mark), Steven Weishaar (Debbie), Curtis Weishaar (Stella); 15 grandchildren, Tammy (Chris), James (Stephanie), Jeremy (Lan); Brian (Jill), Randy (Amy); Jeremy (Sabrina), Charity; Leila (Jackson), Camellia; Nathan, Daniel; Kerstin (Dave); Jacob, Cheyenne (Andrew), and Sierra; 17 great grandchildren, Jozlin, Kyle, Claire, Anna, Seanie, Tashia, Laykin, Treven, Amanda, Jennifer, Kyle, Genesis, Destiny, Calvin, Allandra, Lauren and Cooper ; 2 great great grandchildren, Chance and Caiden. Visitation: Friday, October 20th, 2017, from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm with family greeting friends from 5-7 pm at Smith Mortuary, Derby 1415 North Rock Road Derby, Kansas 67037. Funeral Service: 10:00 am, Saturday, October 21st, 2017 at Douglass United Methodist Church 204 S. Willow St Douglass, Kansas 67039. Interment to follow at Milan Cemetery at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Douglass United Methodist Church or Samaritain's Purse P.O. box 3000 Boone, NC 28607.
