Our hitch hike from Tijuana, Mexico to Wichita, KS in two weeks.

When Clarann and I were about 19 yrs. old we had went on a trip with some friends to Tijuana, Mexico. Our friends were ready to go and we weren’t, so we ended up getting left in Tijuana. I had $4 which I gave to the poor children at the Boarder. Clarann had maybe $8. So we started hutch hiking for our home in Kansas. We had many adventures along the way including staying in the mountains in New Mexico for a week with some friends. Which included swimming in the Pecos River for our baths in May... very cold. Also a diet of cheese, bread, and potatoes cooked(burnt) in an open fire in the cabin for the week. Anyway we made it home alive in two weeks unharmed with stories to tell. A story I will never forget. God Bless you Clara- bell (my nickname for her). Rest In Peace and be with your loved ones on this other side. In love, Terry (Hull) Caldwell
